At the Tri-City Youth Jazz Ensemble, our programs go beyond the classroom to build confidence, character, and community. Through hands-on jazz clinics, private lessons, and live performances, young musicians gain access to professional mentorship and real-world experience. We believe every student deserves the chance to explore the rich tradition of jazz, regardless of financial circumstance, so our nonprofit proudly provides scholarships, instrument support, and community-funded opportunities for field trips, festivals, and clinics. In collaboration with Luther Smalls Music LLC, our Artistic Director and his team of accomplished musicians bring world-class instruction and performance excellence to every event. Together, we’re keeping jazz alive by inspiring, educating, and empowering the next generation of artists.

College Mentorship Program
The Tri-City Youth Jazz Ensemble proudly welcomes college musicians, music education majors, and performing arts students to serve as mentors and volunteers within our organization.
Our mentorship program offers a unique opportunity for college students to:

Share their passion for jazz by coaching middle and high school musicians in improvisation, theory, and performance.

Gain hands-on teaching experience alongside professional instructors and educators.

Build community connections through youth workshops, ensemble rehearsals, and public performances.

Earn volunteer or internship hours that can be verified for college credit or community service requirements.
